Negley - Floyd Leland Gorby, 76, of 50360 Pancake Clarkson Road, died at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Salem Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Gorby was born June 13, 1935 in Rogers, a son of the late Bartlett and Lillian Wilson Gorby and had live in this area all of his life. He had served in the U.S. Army and had worked 27 years as a rough mill saw operator for Kenmar and later Ethan Allen in East Palestine. He had also worked as a groundskeeper at the East Palestine Country Club.
He is survived by two sisters, Hazel Ewing of Salem and Florence Barnhouse of Bethesda; two brothers, Lawrence (Lois) Gorby of New Waterford and Clifford Gorby of Columbiana; and many nieces and nephews including Regina Ward with whom he resided.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Minamyer, Myrtle Gorby, Dorothy Hostetter, and Susan Gorby; and seven brothers, Roy, Glenn, Harold, Wilbur, Roland, Herman, and Edwin Gorby.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in East Carmel Cemetery, Rogers. Friends may call at the funeral home for 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.
