East Palestine, OH-Evelyn M. Phillis, 91, of Fombell, PA and East Palestine, OH passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana, OH.
Evelyn was born July 10, 1921, in Zelienople, PA, a daughter of the late Harry and Evelyn Stuck Bailey.
Evelyn worked at Sahli Motors, Inc., Beaver Falls, PA, where she met her late husband Thomas M. Phillis. Evelyn and Tom, together with the late Joseph and Jane Phillis, owned and operated the Phillis Brothers Store in Fombell for over sixty years. She was retired from the United States Post Office.
She was a member of Camp Run United Presbyterian Church, Fombell, PA, The Women's Circle at the church, Order of Eastern Star Chapter #485 Zelienople, PA where she had been Past Worthy Matron and Past District Deputy. She was also a Sweet Adeline and helped with Meals on Wheels.
Her husband, Thomas M. Phillis, whom she married July 26, 1944, preceded her in death October 26, 1986.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise (Armon Robert) Passerin of East Palestine, OH; granddaughter, Alicia M. Passerin (Bill Hunt) of Pittsburgh, PA; grandson, Forrest T. (Nicole) Passerin of Chester Springs, PA; sister, Inez Forsberg of Chippewa, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 1, 2013 from 10-11:00 am in the Camp Run United Presbyterian Church, Fombell, PA followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Camp Run United Presbyterian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkside Health Care Center Activities Department 930 E. Park Ave., Columbiana, OH 44408; Hospice of the Valley 1120 Village Plaza, Columbiana, OH 44408; or Camp Run United Presbyterian Church, 489 Church Rd., Harmony, PA 16037.
