Columbiana June 13, 2005 -Evelyn Virginia Cross, age 84, formerly of Stanton Avenue and Wind Rose Court died at 1:15 p.m. Monday in the Parkside Health Care Center.

Mrs. Cross was born Jan. 18, 1921 in Columbiana, daughter of Homer and Catherine Shear Zimmerman and had lived in Columbiana all of her life.

She had been produce manager for the former Crooks Market for 15 years.

Evelyn was a loving mother and wife. Her God and her family was the most important thing in her life. She was always looking for ways to help her family and others. Her life consisted of giving and caring for others.

She was a member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Women's Circle of the church and the Auxiliary of Benjamin Firestone Post #290, American Legion.

Her husband, James Wendell Cross whom she married July 10, 1940, preceded her in death June 8, 1991.

Mrs. Cross is survived by two daughters, Joyce E. Funk of Boardman and Mrs. Thomas (Marjorie) Downing of Uniontown; three sons, Jerry Lee Cross of Columbiana, the Rev. John Allen Cross of Sedona, AZ and Glenn Arthur Cross of Columbiana; four sisters Mrs. LaNorma Shirey, Mrs. Robert (Vivian) Wenderoth, Mrs. Gerald (Jane) Garrity and Mrs. Daryl (Joan) Gaskill, all of Columbiana; a brother, Larry Zimmerman of Columbiana; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A grandson, Tim Cross died August 16, 2003.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday (June 24) in the Jerusalem Lutheran Church with the Rev. W. David H. Conrad officiating. He son, The Rev. John Cross sill speak for her family. Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home and 10-11 on Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jerusalem Lutheran Church.
