Leetonia – Evelyn M. Baker, 90, of Woodville Road, died at 6:55 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at her home with her family at her side.

Mrs. Baker was born June 18, 1925 in Leetonia, a daughter of the late Hugh and Norma Mitchell Farmer and had lived in this area all of her life. She had been employed as a secretary/bookkeeper for Thompson Brothers Mining, New Springfield. She had previously worked for ABC Mining and the former Crescent Machine.

She was an active member of St. Jacob’s United Church of Christ where she was a 50 year member of the choir and had served as financial secretary for many years. She was also a member of the Lamplighters Sunday School Class and the Women’s Guild of the church.

Her husband, Kenneth M. Baker, whom she married July 6, 1956 died April 19, 2010.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathy A. (Glenn) Hostetter of Leetonia, with whom she recently had made her home; a granddaughter, Abby (Eric) Gustafson of Lowellville; a grandson, Jason Fitzsimmons of Leetonia; and a great granddaughter, Gracie Fitzsimmons.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Griffith.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at St. Jacob's United Church of Christ with the Reverend Steven Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Jacob’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana and at the church one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jacob’s United Church of Christ Memorial Fund or Hospice of the Valley.
