Evalyn L. (Schmidt) Morris

Columbiana, OH - Evalyn L. Morris, age 98, of Columbiana, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Windsor House at Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana.

She was born on January 1, 1926, in East Fairfield, OH, daughter of the late Coll and Lois Schmidt.

Evalyn had worked as a cook for Crestview Local School District for many years. She was also very busy in her retirement running the family business, Diary Drive Ice Cream and Cheese Shop in East Fairfield. She was an active member of East Fairfield United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and participated in the Joy Circle. She also volunteered for the Board of Elections at the East Fairfield voting station. Evalyn enjoyed cross words puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and crocheting.

Her husband, Chalmer H. Morris, whom she married on January 25, 1946, preceded her in death on, June 27, 2004.

Evalyn is survived by her daughter, Debbi Shingleton of Columbiana; her son, James R. Morris of New Waterford; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Coll Schmidt, her mother, Lois Lower, her sister, Ina Mae Noel and her brother, George Schmidt.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, and from 10:00 am-11:00 am Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at East Fairfield United Methodist Church.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 11:00 am at the East Fairfield United Methodist Church with Reverend Lisa Courtwright officiating.

Burial will take place at East Fairfield Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made directly to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
