Columbiana-January 25, 2008-Eva Helen Ambrose, age 88, formerly of Seventh Street, Columbiana died at 11:15 a.m. Friday at Essex of Salem II.

Mrs. Ambrose was born February 17, 1919 in Fairfield, AL, a daughter of Fred and Eva Siranian Yanko and had lived in the Columbiana area since 1953.

She was a hostess at Heck's Restaurant for several years, and had worked at the former Quick Shop. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Columbiana where she was active in the United Methodist Women's Group. She enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Her husband Frank Shriver Ambrose, whom she married May 30, 1939, died September 3, 2000.

She is survived by two sons, James R. (Lynne) Ambrose of Medina, NY and Thomas F. (Tina) Ambrose of Lisbon; four grandchildren, Leslie (William) Saj, James Jr. (Lynn) Ambrose, Heather (Mark) Dempsey and Adam Ambrose; and six great grandchildren, Hannah, Matthew and Corey Saj, Corey and Emma Ambrose and Ethan Dempsey.

Two sisters, Mary Plumb and Anne Ivy and three brothers, Fred, Mike and John Yanko preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday at the the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home with Reverend Ken Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
