Essie O. Hulton

East Palestine - Essie O. Hulton, 101, formerly of Bacon Avenue, East Palestine, died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center, Columbiana.

Mrs. Hulton was born February 9, 1912 in Negley, a daughter of the late Edward and Hallie Greer Dyke and had lived in this area all of her life. She had been employed as a sewer at the former Kenmar Manufacturing, East Palestine. She had been a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, East Palestine and had been an avid bowler.

Her husband, W. Park Hulton, whom she married June 15, 1929 died January 23, 1982.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty Ellis of East Palestine; three grandchildren, Robert Ellis of East Palestine, Brian Ellis of New Waterford, and Rick Ellis, East Palestine; and four great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bonnie Ellis; a sister, Olive Maple; and three brothers, Kenneth, Gilbert, and Richard Dyke.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, with the Reverend Mark McTrustry officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-5 p.m. Sunday.
