Leetonia - September 28, 2008 - Elvira "Jane" DiRocco, 79, of 145 Pine Street, went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning at the Salem Community Hospital.
Mrs. DiRocco was born July 10, 1929 in Lisbon, a daughter of the late Daniel and Elsie Bush McGoogan and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a homemaker and had also been employed as a clerk in the Office of Child Support Enforcement Agency at the Department of Human Services in Lisbon for five years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Leetonia, and the Mind, Heart, & Soul Book Club. Jane was a talented artist and enjoyed cross word puzzles. Her favorite past time was dancing with her husband and spending time with her family.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Charles Pete and two brothers, James and Albert McGoogan.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel Joseph DiRocco, whom she married October 23, 1948; three daughters, Karen (Marty) Orr, Sandy Deville, and Lori (Mike) Marston, all of Leetonia; three sons, Paul E. (Cindy) DiRocco of Leetonia, James S. DiRocco of Woodland Hills, CA, and Michael A. (Pam) DiRocco of Louisville, OH; a brother, Charles (Evelyn) Pete of Salem; 13 grandchildren, Angie, Jodi, Amy, Melissa, Nikki, Sam, Bob, Nick, Liza, Jessica, Nicholas, Sophia, and Valerie; and five great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia with Father Thomas Eisweirth officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday where a Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m.
