Columbiana, January 22, 2004, Elmer Vick, age 82, of 710F Springfield Road, died at 9:23 a.m. Thursday at the Hospice of the Visiting Nurse Service in Fairlawn.
Mr. Vick was born February 16, 1921 in Lorain, Ohio, a son of Elmer N. and Myrtle Vick and had lived here since 1986, coming from Louisville, KY.
He had been employed as a reinsurance agent for the former American Risk Management Company for many years. He had served in the U. S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine during WW II.
He was a member of Black River Lodge #786 F. & A.M. in Lorain and the Benjamin Firestone Post #290, American Legion of Columbiana.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Ruth Ford, whom he married November 28, 1947; a daughter, Mrs. Susan (Harlan) Adkins of Clinton, Ohio; two sons, Perry Ford (Barbara) Vick of Minerva, Ohio and David Alan (Jennifer) Vick of Norfolk, VA; a sister, Ruth Myrtle Murphy of Avon Lake, Ohio; one brother, Gene Paul Vick of Florida; and three grandchildren, Matthew Adkins of Barberton, Ohio, Michael Adkins of Clinton, Ohio and Erin Ellyson of Montpelier, Vermont.
An infant son, a daughter, Nancy Kate Vick, and a brother, Richard Vick are deceased.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home, Columbiana, with the Rev. Kenneth Rambo officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery where Benjamin Firestone Post will accord military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday where Allen Lodge #276, F. & A.M. will conduct Masonic Services at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
