Elmer R. Mcdevitt
East Palestine-November 8, 2011-Elmer R. McDevitt, 61, of East Palestine, died suddenly, Tuesday morning at his home.
Mr. McDevitt was born January 9, 1950 in Salem, a son of Ross and Ida Mae Gotthardt McDevitt and had lived in this area all of his life. Elmer was a truck driver for Fed Ex for the past 8 years and had previously worked for TFI in Salem.
Elmer is survived by his wife, the former Sandra M. Boyles, whom he married June 18, 1973; a daughter, Jenifer (Shawn) Smith of Monroeville, PA; a son, Charles (Danielle) McNeal of Columbiana; a sister, Sue Ann (Robert) Freeburg of Colorado Springs, CO; three brothers, Gerald R. (Jane) McDevitt of San Diego, CA, George R. (JoAnn) McDevittt of East Palestine and Gary W. (Jackie) McDevitt of Columbiana; and six grandchildren.
Private family services were held Thursday evening at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.
