Enon Valley, PA - April 7, 2010 - Elma Van Kirk, 79, of 3347 Beaver Dam Road, died on Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. at the Jameson Care Center, New Castle. Mrs. Van Kirk was born January 6, 1931 in Beaver Falls, PA, a daughter of the late Wayne and Magdalene Russell and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a graduate of Geneva College and was an elementary school teacher for the Beaver Falls Schools for many years. She had also served as Little Beaver Township Tax Collector as well.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ of East Palestine, OH where she had served as treasurer.

Her husband, Robert K. Van Kirk, whom she married June 3, 1953 died, December 13, 2000.

She is survived by four daughters, Susan and Alfred Hennon of Massillon, OH, Kathy and Thomas Pierson of Charlottesville, VA, Amy and Thomas Gregory of Baltimore, MD, and Robin and Jay Lanham of Culpeper, VA; two sons, Robert and Diana Van Kirk of Tyrone, PA and Thomas and Deborah Van Kirk of Enon Valley; four sisters, Grace Connor of Darlington, PA, Dorothy Carr of Enon, OH, Marilyn Ward of San Diego, CA, and Eileen Blackwood of California; a brother, David (Guppy) Russell of Enon Valley, PA; thirteen grandchildren, Chad and Megan Hennon, Daniel Hennon, Lindsey Hennon, Joshua Pierson, Zachary Pierson, Nathaniel Pierson, Maggie Rose Lanham, Matthew Lanham, Kathleen Van Kirk, Sarah Van Kirk, Robert Van Kirk, Samantha Van Kirk, and Aiden Van Kirk; and a great grandson, Dylan Andrew Hennon.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Russell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, OH, with James Ostick, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Little Beaver Cemetery, Enon Valley, PA.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Friday.
