Elizabeth M. Lazear

Columbiana - Elizabeth M. Lazear, 89, died at 7:16 a.m. Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Lazear, one of 13 children, was born December 12, 1923 in Moon Run, PA, a daughter of the late Peter and Mary Grogus Uritson and had lived in this area most of her life. She served as a Yeoman Third Class in the US Navy during WW II. She was proud of her military service and was honored to be chosen to place a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery during a recent Honor Flight to Washington, DC this past Spring. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion.

Her husband, Joseph E. Lazear, whom she married March 4, 1946 died December 19, 1995.

She is survived by two daughters, Joanne Grace of Columbiana and Marian (James) Walker of Mannington, WV; two grandchildren, Marvin Lee (Lisa) Grace II of Boardman and Joseph M. Walker of Inwood, WV; and two great grandchildren, Evan and Ella Grace.

She was also preceded in death by her 12 siblings including Joseph and Edward Uritson, Anna Solerto, Mary Tinker, and Isabel Uritson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Dr. Louis Cosentino, Deacon, officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens where Benjamin Firestone Post will accord military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to the services on Friday.
