Elizabeth "Betty" Helt

Columbiana - Elizabeth "Betty" Helt, 94, of Columbiana, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Parkside Health Care Center.

Betty was born April 26, 1920 in Leetonia, a daughter of the late John F. and Nelle B. Hickling Helt, and had lived in the area all of her life.

She was a secretary and agent for the former Edward Greenamyer Insurance, Helt Insurance, Holloway, Bauer, and Patterson Insurance, all of Leetonia and Holloway Insurance in Columbiana prior to her retiring after 60 years of service.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for over 40 years. Betty served one term on the Leetonia School Board and was an active member of the Leetonia Alumni Association, as well as an avid bowler.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Marian Holloway and two brothers, Paul E. "Ted" Helt and J. Leland Helt.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2014 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Lisbon Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Memorial tributes may be made to the Leetonia Alumni Scholarship Fund or the Brick Restoration Fund of the church. Funeral arrangements were made by the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
