Eleanor Ruth Shaw Schmolly

New Springfield, OH-Eleanor Ruth Shaw Schmolly, 85, of 13249 Unity Road, died at 10:34 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Covington Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center, East Palestine.

Mrs. Schmolly was born March 26, 1926 in Beaver Falls, PA, a daughter of Ludwig and Julianna Frederick Renn and had lived in this area all of her life. She, along with her husband, Marcus Shaw, owned and operated the Enon Valley Community Sale for many years.

Her first husband, Marcus R. Shaw, Sr. and her second husband, Norbert Schmolly both preceded her in death.

She is survived by four daughters, Deborah Lynn Deafenbaugh of New Springfield, Denise Renee Stein of Enon Valley, PA, Diane Ruth Landsberger of New Middletown and Cynthia Sue Shaw of New Springfield; two sons, Marcus R. Shaw II of East Palestine and Merle Edward Shaw of New Castle, PA; four sisters, Julianna Croud of Beaver Falls, PA, Hattie Childs of Darlington, PA, Alice Tuffs of New Brighton, PA and Betty Mackall of East Palestine; fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Young, Freda Cope, Martha Stoner, and Dorothy Smith; and three brothers, Ewald Renn, Edward Renn and Donald Renn.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2011 at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Palestine with the Reverend William McGary officiating.

Friends may call from 1-3 pm and 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.
