Eleanor C. Johnson

Negley, OH - February 8, 2005 -Eleanor C. Johnson, age 89, formerly of Negley, died at 9: 00 a.m. Tuesday at Calcutta Health Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Johnson was born July 25, 1915 in Downeyville, PA a daughter of William and Margaret Conley Clinton and had lived here since 1944 coming from Allison Park, PA. She was a secretary for 18 years for the AAA in East Liverpool retiring in 1983. She was a member of Lake Mount Church of Christ, East Palestine Chapter #381 Order of Eastern Star and had served as treasurer for over 20 years for the former Anna Eckley Chapter #032 Order of Eastern Star in Negley. She was also an avid card player.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Rollen (Winifred) Pethtel of Negley; a brother, Robert D. (Patricia) Clinton, Sr. of Mars, PA; three grandchildren, Bradley S. (Sally) Pethtel, Gregory S. (Melissa) Pethtel and Mrs. Darren (Susan K.) Dodson; and eight great grandchildren, Corey and Jordan Pethtel, Heather Derenburger, J.T. and Kyle Thomas, Kalyn and Kylee Dodson and Stephen Pethtel.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Colpo and Grace Clinton and three brothers, Earl W. Clinton, Hugh C. Clinton, and E. Eugene Clinton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2005 at the Lake Mount Church of Christ with Jason Pancake, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in East Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.

East Palestine Chapter will conduct Eastern Star services at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
