Elaine (Snider) Yoder

Columbiana - Elaine Yoder went to be with the Lord, while at home and in the presence of her children, on June 5, 2024, at the age of 101. She was born Sept 10, 1922, in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Howard and Linda Becker Snider.

She graduated from Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate in Kitchener, Ontario and was a 1945 graduate of the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital School of Nursing with an RN degree. She spent 3 years in India and Sumatra with the Mennonite Central Committee, a relief organization of the Mennonite Church.

She married William H. Yoder on October 21, 1950, and moved from Canada to Columbiana, Ohio. She was a member of the Ohio Nurses Assoc. and worked at both Salem Community Hospital and South Side Hospital and as a volunteer nurse at South Range Schools for a number of years. After her family was raised, she nursed at Assumption Nursing Home for 5 years.

She was an active member of the North Lima Mennonite Church where she was a Sunday School and Summer Bible School teacher for many years.

She leaves a daughter, Patricia (Mark) Edwards of Columbiana; two sons, W. Thomas (Michele) Yoder of New Springfield and Timothy H. Yoder of Columbiana; five grandchildren, Allison (Joel) Thompson of Atco, NJ, Melinda (Hans) Dirdal, of Denver, CO, Aaron (Maggie) Yoder of Twinsburg, Courtney Yoder of Pittsburgh, PA, and Joshua Yoder of Kent; one great granddaughter, Lucy Thompson of Atco NJ, and a future great granddaughter Yoder of Twinsburg. She also leaves two sisters, Lucille Weber and Delphine Gingrich, and a sister-in-law, Mary Kay Snider, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, a brother, six brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.

A Memorial Service will be held at the North Lima Mennonite Church at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 6, 2024. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

Memorials may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, Akron, PA or to the North Lima Mennonite Church.

The family would also like to thank Southern Care Hospice and their wonderful staff who helped with her care.
