Edwin L. Shaffer

Lisbon - Edwin Leon Shaffer, 76, of 244 Sherman Street, died at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2012 at the Hospice House, Poland. He had resided in Lisbon for 25 years, coming from Leetonia.

Edwin was born December 4, 1935 in Hanoverton, a son of the late Arthur J. and Mildred Welling Shaffer. He had been employed as a truck driver at Fordees Corporation for 29 years, retiring in 1992.

He had been an avid tractor puller in the area.

He is survived by his wife, the former Helen L. Rance, whom he married in 1959; three daughters, Denise (Ray) Muniz and Pam (Kenny) Hogue both of Leetonia and Lorrie (Larry) Malone of Lisbon; three sons, Jim (Michele) Shaffer, Arthur Shaffer and David (Marla) Shaffer all of Lisbon; three sisters, Mary Safreed of Salem, Shirley (Tom) Wickey of Columbiana and Betty (Earl) McCoy of New Waterford; two brothers, Bob (Darlene) Shaffer of Lisbon and Jack (Marlene) Shaffer of Rogers; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012. The service will follow calling hours at 7:00 p.m. Friday with the Reverend Thomas Ziegler officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to defray medical expenses.
