Edwin Dean Exten, 80, of Lisbon Rd. Leetonia, Ohio died on Father's Day, Sunday, June 20th at the Cleveland Clinic with his loved ones at his bedside.

He was born May 18, 1930, the son of Frank and Alma (Alverson) Exten. Mr. Exten had been blessed to have spent the last twenty years in retirement. During that time, he enjoyed his life here in Ohio with his family and friends during the summer months and over the past 13 years, treasured the winter months in Arizona where he enjoyed many close friends and was happiest playing cards and pool. He was famous for his weekend cookouts and pig roasts and from his early childhood, had a great love for fishing. He was a 1948 graduate of Leetonia High School and remained an avid follower of the Leetonia Bears football team.

For the majority of his career, he was employed as a representative with Cuna Mutual Insurance and had also previously been employed with Metropolitan Life Insurance.

His wife, Frances (Milcetich) Exten, whom he married August 6th, 1949, survives him, along with three daughters, Connie (Chuck) Adams, Kathy (Harry) Ewing and Debbie (Jim) King, all of Salem. He was very proud of his 11 grandchildren, Cassie (Todd) Richey, Chuck (Kim) Adams, Tim (Nici) Ewing, Nick Ewing, Beau and Blaire Coy, Brooke (Steve) Finley, Joshua, Benjamin, Justin and Bridget King and his 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters, Luceil Zimmerman, Rachel Kliner and Betty Herr and a brother, Stanley who died at birth.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with the Reverend Enzie Wade officiating. Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Woods-Rettig Funeral Home in Leetonia and one hour prior to the services on Thursday. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leetonia.
