Ed was a graduate of North High School in Youngstown and retired from the Leetonia Police Dept. where he served as an officer for 27 years. He worked the tractor gates at the Canfield Fair for 19 years and he also helped with hunter education classes for several years. In his younger days, Ed enjoyed hunting and he loved boating. He was a great stepfather to his wife, Cynthia’s children, a loving “Poppy” to his beloved grandchildren, and he was a friend to all. Ed will be remembered as a kind, generous, selfless man who cared for everyone. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Van Giesen Anderson, whom he married on September 27, 2008.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George Anderson.
Per his wishes, no services will be held. Instead, he can be remembered by making a donation in his memory to either the Leetonia or East Palestine Police Department.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.
