Leetonia, OH-June 27, 2011-Edward Garret Smith, 60, of 450 Sleepy Hollow died Monday morning at the Cleveland Clinic.
Mr. Smith was born August 30, 1950 in Salem, a son of Emmet and Norma Jean Jackson Smith, Jr. and had lived in this area most of his life.
Ed was a truck driver for D.W. Dickey & Sons for 31 years retiring in 2004. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
He was active in the community and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, the former Cleone A. Cash, whom he married November 7, 1970; a daughter, Stephanie K. (Jerome) Doyle of Keller, TX; two sons, Edward Royal (Bijal) Smith of Wilmington, NC and Eric K. (Darby) Smith of Columbiana; two sisters, Darla (Tony) Niekro of Blaine, OH and Anna (Terry) Shipley of Billings, MT; four brothers, Forest (Karen) Smith of Joliet, IL, Jerry (Janie) Smith of Lubbock, TX, Allan (Sandy) Smith of Lisbon and Roger (Janice) Smith of Henrietta, OK; his mother in law, Jeri Cash of Fresno, CA; and five grandchildren, Anjeli Smith, Ethan Smith, Eidan Smith, Landry Smith and Thatcher Garret Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
