Salem - January 22, 2005 - Edward A. Less, 60, of 12523 Washingtonville Road, died at 4:17 p.m. Saturday at the Salem Community Hospital after being stricken at his home. Mr. Less was born October 25, 1944 in Salem, a son of Francis G. and Jane L. Sauerwein Less and had lived in this area all of his life. He was a self-employed farmer at Less and Less Farm the past 20 years. Prior to that, he operated Ed Less Excavating for several years. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Mahoning County Farm Bureau and the Ohio Corn Growers Association. He was a past director of the Ohio Land Improvement Contractors Association and the Salem Fruit Growers Association. Besides his mother, Jane Less of Salem, he is survived by his wife, the former E. Elaine Latronico, whom he married August 12, 1967; a daughter, Erin E. Less of Salem, two sons, John F. (Gerri) Less of Salem and Brian E. (Jennifer) Less of New Castle, PA; three sisters, Mrs. Bill (Susan) Phillips of Canfield, Mrs. Keith (Ann) Bossard of Columbus, and Mrs. John (Lisa) Crider of Marquette, MI; three brothers, William (Nancy) Less, Michael Less, and George (Penny) Less, all of Salem; and two grandchildren, Isaac Less and Isabella Less. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Less. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana, with the Reverend Thomas G. Ziegler officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Leetonia. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
