Columbiana, January 29, 2006 -Edward Lee Gotthardt, age 80, of 19 Pueblo Lane died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday in the Salem Community Hospital.

He was born April 2, 1925 in Youngstown, son of Edward and Hazel Kennedy Gotthardt and had lived in Columbiana the last four years, coming from New Waterford.

Mr. Gotthardt had been a block operator for Penn Central and Conrail for 30 years.

He was a member of the Leetonia Methodist Church.

He served in the Navy during WW II and was a member of York Drexler Post #5532 VFW at Washingtonville.

Mr. Gotthardt was a member of the Leetonia Lodge #401 F&A M, the Salem Chapter #334, Order of Eastern Star, the Tadmor Shriners at Akron, and the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Kelley, whom he married October 31, 1953; a daughter, Mrs. Buck (Janie) Buckner of New Middletown; a sister, Mrs. Rhea Robson of East Palestine; a brother, Gary Gotthardt of Darlington, PA, a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, James Soldo; two brothers, Don and Russell Gotthardt.

Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home with the Pastor Cheryl Vanatsky officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The Leetonia Lodge will conduct a Masonic service Tuesday, following calling hours.

The Honor Guard of the Benjamin Firestone Post #290, American Legion will render military honors.
