Edward W. Davis, age 50, of 375 29th Street NW, died at 2:08 p.m. Monday at the Massillon Community Hospital following a short illness.

Mr. Davis was born February 4, 1954, the son of the late Edward M. and Carrie J. Breckons Davis and had lived in Massillon for 20 years, coming from Columbiana. Prior to that he had lived in Washingtonville and was a 1972 graduate of Leetonia High School.

He had been employed as a commercial vehicle inspector for the Ohio Highway Patrol for 16 years, retiring in 2002 due to disability. He was a member of the Leetonia Sportsmans Club and a former member of the Washingtonville Volunteer Fire Department. Ed especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and Native American culture.

He is survived by his companion of 16 years, Margie Gesch; a son, Edward Davis; a sister, Tami Poage of Salem; a brother, Doug Davis of Fort Wayne, IN; and a special niece, Mariah Poage of Salem.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Alex Poage.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Washingtonville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday.
