Edna M. Smith

Edna M. Smith, 85, of Columbiana, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Essex #3 of Salem where she had been the past three weeks.

Mrs. Smith was born, February 27, 1926 in Beaver Township, a daughter of John and Tessie Lehman Cowan and had lived in this area all of her life.

Mrs. Smith worked for Ever-Ready Gas in Middleton and was a home health care provider. Edna loved gardening, baking and canned many things from her garden. She was also an active member of New Waterford United Methodist Church.

Her husband Roy C. Smith, whom she married March 30, 1946, died November 20, 2006.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Buhn of New Waterford; two sons, James (Mary Ann) Smith and Gene (Donita) Smith both of Columbiana; a step sister, Helen Salyers of East Palestine; and a step brother, Roy Weaver of East Palestine; four grandchildren, Cale Smith, Graham Smith, Ryan Davis and Abby Yarian; and four great grandchildren;

She was also preceded in death by two step sisters, Betty Matthews and Marjorie Lewis.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the New Waterford United Methodist Church with Pastor Paula Archdeacon officiating. Friends will be received from 10-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
