East Palestine, OH-April 17, 2012- Edna C. Myers, 86, formerly of East Palestine, died at 8:30 pm Tuesday, at Crandall Medical Center, Sebring from complications of a stroke.
Mrs. Myers was born July 24, 1925 in Cooperstown, PA, a daughter of the late Edward J. and Teresa Lewis Friggle. Edna had lived in this area most of her life.
Edna was a math and gym teacher for the Crestview Schools and also a math teacher and guidance counselor for the East Palestine City Schools for many years.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of East Palestine, East Palestine Chapter #381 Order of the Eastern Star. She had also belonged to the Unity Grange and the local garden club. She loved to knit and play bridge. She also read for the blind and was a volunteer at Copeland Oaks. Her husband, Lloyd Myers, whom she married June 3, 1950, died January 9, 2003.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Robert) Svee of East Palestine; her sister, Ila Burlingame of Cooperstown, PA; three grandchildren, Jesse (Misty) Robertson of Sandy, UT, Alexandra (Robert) Arnold and Carrie Robertson of West Valley, UT; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Ian Robertson; a sister and three brothers.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Rev. Dr. Barry M. Walker officiating. Material tributes in Edna's memory may be made to the East Palestine Alumni and Friends Scholarship Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
