New Waterford- Edith "Edie" Ward, age 91, of New Waterford, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana.

She was born on January 19, 1925 in East Fairfield, a daughter of the late George Garrod and the late Mary "Pearl" Houlette Garrod Carter.

Edie was a member of the New Waterford United Methodist Church and had served as past treasurer of 4 C's, New Waterford. She belonged to the New Waterford Garden and Civic Club, as well as the Zion Home Makers. Early in her career, Edie worked with her family at the New Waterford Furniture Co. She later etched out a career as a Postal Clerk for the United States Postal Service, having worked for 20 years, retiring in 1989. She enjoyed cooking and canning, but mostly she enjoyed sewing.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn E. Ward, whom she married on February 1, 1947; a daughter, Rhonda (Matt) Pahanish of Leetonia; two sons, Ray (Sandy) Ward of New Waterford, and Bob (Sherry) Ward of New Waterford; a half-sister, Dorothy (Daren) Whitacre of Leetonia; a half-brother, John (Betty) Carter of Lebanon, IL; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Louise Webber; a half-sister, Mary Flowers; three brothers, Henry Garrod, Wilbur Garrod and George Garrod; five step-sisters, Marie Rex, Erma Rinklieb, Gertrude Jacks, Lois Smith and Esther Reed; a step- brother, Willis Carter and a great granddaughter, Amanda Seman.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the New Waterford United Methodist Church with Pastor Tina Siroki and Pastor Ken Rambo officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial tributes in memory of Edie may be made to the New Waterford Methodist Church.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
