Canfield-Earl Richard Baker, 93, of Canfield passed away Monday evening, September 12, 2016 at Ivy Woods Manor Nursing Home, North Lima.

Earl was born November 4, 1922 in Columbiana, Ohio, a son of the late Frank “Shiner” and Ruth Huston Baker.

Earl was a member of the Calla Community Church, Canfield. He volunteered as an Ombudsman with the Department of Aging and was a member of the Dublin Grange #1409. He served in the U.S. Army During WWII. Earl was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years retiring in 1984.

Earl is survived by his wife of 67 years , the former Zella Gordon, whom he married June 5, 1948, two daughters, Debbie (Don) Raber of Salem and Lois Schindler of Austintown; two sons, Gene R. (Vickie) Baker of Canfield and Dean F. Baker of New Springfield; five grandchildren, Jason (Susan) Baker, Gena (Steve) Grope, Brent (Tara) Raber, Chad (Rachel) Raber and Kayla Schindler; as well as eight great-grandchildren.

Earl was preceded in death by a brother Glenn Baker.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor Jim Houston officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calla Community Church memorial fund in memory of Earl.
