Dorothy Ellen Ward

East Palestine - October 30, 2007 - Dorothy E. Ward, 80, of 49873 SR 14, died at 12:35 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus following a long illness.

Mrs. Ward was born September 16, 1927 in East Palestine, a daughter of Andrew and Helen Burlingham VanFossan and had lived here all of her life. She had been the owner and operator of the former Ward's Market in Unity and prior to that was a clerk at J. J. Newberry's in East Palestine. She was a member of the First Church of Christ, East Palestine.

She is survived by her husband, Francis Howard Ward; a son, Wesley Ward of East Palestine; a sister, Nina Cunningham of Negley; and a grandson, Craig Ward.

A brother, Donald VanFossan is deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Mr. Robert Helbeck, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday.
