Dorothy M. Schmitt

Services will be held at 11 am Friday, June 24, at the Upper Room Fellowship for Dorothy M. (Altomare) Schmitt, who peacefully passed from this life Saturday evening, June 18.

She was born July 5, 1923 in Salem, the daughter of Howard and Elizabeth Barnes Smith, and lived most of her life in the Leetonia and New Waterford areas. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Clarence H. Smith, three husbands, Robert P. Gaver, Americo A. Altomare, and John F. Schmitt, and two great-grandchildren.

Surviving are five children, Judith (Anthony) Rubino of New Waterford, Jo-Anne (Ron) Booksing of Ga, Anthony (Cecelia) Altomare of Columbiana, Valerie (Rick) Aitken of Fl, and Pam Barkley of Fl, 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She also leaves three step-children, John F. (Deborah) Schmitt, Jr of Boardman, Mary Catherine O'Farrell of S. Carolina, and Ginny (Bill) Burdick of TX.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, June 23, from 4-8pm at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home in Columbiana, and one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will follow at the New Waterford Cemetery. If desired, contributions can be made to Grace Hospice, Youngstown, OH.
