East Palestine - April 10, 2008 - Doris H. Ward, 83, of 190 Young Street, died at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Hospice House, Poland surrounded by her beloved family.
Mrs. Ward was born November 2, 1924 in Alliance, the daughter of Edward and Anna Belle Noling Seidel and had lived in this area all of her life.
She had been employed at Electrical Refractories in East Palestine for several years. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church where she had served as choir director. She had served on the board for Meals on Wheels in East Palestine and was a member of the East Palestine Historical Society and the Red Hat Society.
Her husband, Floyd R. Ward, whom she married June 7, 1947 died August 23, 1993.
She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Grunick of Washingtonville, Mary Ward of Petersburg, VA, Patricia (Zane) Reed of Chippewa, PA, and Nancy (David) Rauch of New Haven, IN; a son, David (Robin) Ward of New Springfield; a sister, Shirley (Donald) Barker of Barberton, OH; ten grandchildren, Michael Elick, Geri Noel, Bethany Grunick, Kathleen Grunick, Lindsay Reed, Abby Rauch, Jennifer Brookover, Shane Manley, Brian Manley, and Beau Manley; nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a stepmother, Edna Seidel and a brother, Edward Seidel, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Mark McTrustry officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday and from 10-11 a.m. on Monday.
