We have lost a mother, grandmother and great grandmother with a heart of gold who was more to us than wealth untold. We have lost, but God gained one of the best mothers in the world. Her heart and faith were the truest in all the world.
She was born September 29, 1927 in Lisbon, a daughter of William and Helen Cox Hart and had lived in Columbiana since 1952 coming from East Fairfield, Ohio. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1947. Doris loved to read and very much enjoyed her past three years at the Marian Living Center where she had many good friends. She enjoyed following the travels and sports of her grandchildren.
Her husband of 60 years, Robert Ray Stewart whom she married June 29, 1947 preceded her in death on January 19, 2008.
Doris and her late husband, Bob, spent one week each summer traveling in their pickup with their 1924 Model T Ford on the trailer behind to distant parts of the states for week-long tours planned by the Youngstown Model T Club. She loved traveling and learning about new places and loved to share their adventures and pictures. Every Labor Day weekend was spent enjoying the Ohio Model Jamboree held in different areas of Ohio. For local trips they enjoyed traveling in their 1931 Model A Ford. She and Bob also were active members of the Beaver Canal Association.
She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Washingtonville.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra (Ray) Crittenden of Cornelius, NC, Linda Stewart of Youngstown and Mona (William) Barger of Canfield; a son Robert Allen (Juanita) Stewart of Leetonia; a brother, Richard (Sandra) Hart of Perry, Georgia; a sister JoAnn (Virgil) Kornbau of Columbiana; eight grandchildren: Christy (Jeff) Mocny of Raleigh, NC; Amy Crittenden of Boston, MA; Justin Barger of Canfield; Cara Crittenden of Cuyahoga Falls; Chris (Brooke) Stewart of North Lima; Melissa (Kevin) Guthrie of Struthers; Barry (Rose) Stewart of Columbiana; William Barger of Canfield; and 4 great grandchildren: Ezra, Gwenna, Bradley and William Stewart.
