Doris E. Schmidt

Columbiana, OH - February 28, 2005 - Doris E. Schmidt, 78, of 1242 Fairfield Ave. died suddenly at 12:55 a.m. Monday at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH.

Mrs. Schmidt was born March 5, 1926 in Alliance Ohio, a daughter of Lee and Florence Wollam Gaston and had lived in the area all her life.

She had been a secretary for the Columbiana High School for 13 years before that working as a secretary at the former Fairfield School. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of New Waterford and was active in several card clubs in the area.

Her husband, Richard Eugene Schmidt, whom she married July 19, 1945, died March 27, 1999.

She is survived by two sons, Dick (Pam) Schmidt of Columbiana and Don (Linda) Schmidt of Punta Gorda, FL as well as nine grandchildren, Sara Schmidt, Nate Schmidt, Abby McLemore, Ellen Schmidt, Craig Schmidt, Nicholas Schmidt, Marcus Schmidt, Alina Schmidt, and Becca Schmidt and one great grandson C.J. Schmidt.

A sister, Thelma Fraundofer is also deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbiana County Memorial Park, Calcutta. Friends may call from 6-9 Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial tributes may be made to the Remembrance Fund of the Zion Lutheran Church in New Waterford.
