Columbiana-August 21, 2011-Doris Eileen Sansenbaugher Garrod, 88, formerly of Columbiana, went home to be with her Lord at 6:35 a.m. Sunday at the home of her daughter, Tami (Bob) Peddicord in New Waterford following a brief illness.
Mrs. Garrod was born May 27, 1923 in Salem, a daughter of William and Alice Weber Sansenbaugher.
Doris lived her entire life in the Columbiana area. She graduated from Fairfield High School and was a member of East Fairfield United Methodist Church. She had been employed years ago at the local Crooks Market in Columbiana as a cashier. She enjoyed cooking, painting, playing cards, family gatherings and traveling with Jud to various places including New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii and Missionary trips to Guatemala.
Her husband George Harold Garrod, whom she married July 15, 1945, preceded her in death February 18, 2003.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Hull of North Jackson, Linda (Keith) Conkle, Jill Garrod and Tami (Bob) Peddicord all of New Waterford; her son, Garry Garrod of East Palestine; fourteen grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandson soon to be born.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Becky Garrod.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the East Fairfield United Methodist Church with Reverend Michael Namy and Larry Kannal officiating. A luncheon will be served following the services at the church. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Material tributes may be made to the church memorial fund.
