Doris Irene Bender

Salem-January 31, 2008-Doris Bender, 94, of 2345 Lexington Ave. died at 8:15 a.m. Thursday at The Courtyard at Lexington in Salem.

Mrs. Bender was born July 8, 1913 in East Fairfield Township, OH a daughter of William W. and Nana Cross Schooley and had lived in this area all of her life.

Doris was a homemaker and had worked as a decorator at the former W.S. George Pottery in East Palestine. She also operated the Benders' Farm Market in East Fairfield for many years. She was a member of East Fairfield United Methodist Church.

Her husband Carl R. Bender, whom she married September 3, 1932 died November 17, 1986.

She is survived by two sons, Everett Earl Bender of Punta Gorda, FL and Ronald Lee (Janet) Bender of Salem; a sister, Verda Butler of East Palestine; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Roshon and four brothers, Ralph, Russell, Wilmer and William Schooley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2008 in the East Fairfield United Methodist Church with the Reverend Michael Namy officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
