Donovan C. Birmingham

Columbiana - Donovan C. Birmingham, 86, of 106 Park Court, formerly of New Springfield, died at 8:40 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2011 at the St. Mary's Alzheimers Center.

Mr. Birmingham was born August 7, 1925 in Vienna, Missouri, a son of the late Clyde Birmingham and Pearl Burns Birmingham Hoff. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and was a life member of the VFW Post #2799 of New Springfield. He had been employed as a foreman at American Standard, Salem for many years, retiring in 1990.

His wife, the former Lois Wilson Birmingham, whom he married June 6, 1955 died December 15, 1991.

He is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Frederick) Shimer of North Lima; a son, Brian (Kathy) Birmingham of New Springfield; a brother, Marshall Birmingham of Orlando, FL; and four grandchildren, Stephanie Fred, Erik Birmingham, Steven Shimer, and Donovan Shimer.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Birmingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor Alan Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Monday.
