Salem - April 20, 2005 - Donald L. Taylor, 70, of 135 Lisbon Road, died at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Salem Community Hospital. Mr. Taylor was born August 3, 1934 in Salem, a son of the late Ernest and Laura London Taylor and had lived in the area all of his life. He had owned and operated Taylor Sunoco in Leetonia for 25 years, retiring in 1993. Prior to that, he had worked at United Tool & Die of Salem. He was a member of the Highland Christian Church, the Leetonia Lodge #401 F. & A.M. and the Tri State Antique Auto Club. He was and avid drag racer for over 25 years. He is survived by his wife, the former Betsy E. Price, whom he married January 16, 1953; two sons, Douglas (Cheri) Taylor of Salem and Timothy (Debra) Taylor of Mauldin, SC; two granddaughters, Mrs. Chris (Jennifer) Calfee and Mrs. Nick (Laura) Adamson; and a great granddaughter, Taylor Calfee. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with John Reed, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Friday where Leetonia Lodge will conduct Masonic Services at 5:45 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Highland Christian Church Roof Fund.
