East Palestine - October 10, 2004 - Donald Kyle Rose, age 17, of 1130 Howell Road, died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Youngstown of injuries following an auto accident.
Donald was born December 31, 1986 in Ravenna, Ohio, a son of Pastor David K. and Jane A. Kirkland Rose and had lived here for eight years, coming from the Akron area. He was a member of the Junior Class of the East Palestine High School.
He was an active member of the Rogers Community Church where he worked with the Children's Ministry. He was a member of the East Palestine Bulldog Varsity Football Team, the Varsity Track Team, and was active in the One Act Plays at the school. Donald was known for his "listening ear" for his friends and classmates. His ability to use his heart and hands for good service to others will be missed by many.
He is survived by his parents, two sisters, Malia Rose and Sa-Vitra Rose, both of the home; a brother, Hakeem Rose of the home; paternal grandmother, Nelda Weber of Barberton, OH; paternal grandfather, Douglas K. Rose of Tallmadge, OH; and a host of relative and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jenna Rose and maternal grandparents, Donald and Jean Kirkland.
A Celebration of Donald's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Free Methodist Community Church, 9900 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, New Middletown, with Pastor Hal Haire and Pastor Rusty Wills officiating. Burial will follow in the Petersburg Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.
