Rogers August 20, 2007 -Donald Dean Hays, Sr., age 90, of 8218 SR 7 died at 6:59 a.m. Monday at his residence.
He was born June 10, 1917 in Rogers, son of William and Maud Pancake Hays.
He had lived in the Rogers area for all of his life and loved farming.
Mr. Hays worked as a drag line operator at Ferris Coal for many years.
Donald attended the Rogers Assembly of God and had served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hays was preceded in death August 26, 2002 by his wife, Elnora Ruth Dyke whom he married August 18, 1941.
Surviving him is a daughter, Shirley Kotsch of Rogers; two sons, Gary L. (Jane) Hays Sr. of Lisbon, and Richard A. (Jackie) Hays of Rogers; a sister Mary Clair of Needles, CA; as well as, 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, and 11 step great grandchildren.
A son Donald Dean Hays, Jr.; a sister Bessie Hays, four brothers William, Irwin, James, and Lawrence Hays; and a great granddaughter preceded him in death.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 on Thursday at the Rogers Assembly of God with the Reverend Paul Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carmel Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home, Columbiana.
