Ravenna-September 11, 2010-Donald E. "Red" Grim, 84, of 443 Lincoln Ave. formerly of East Palestine died at 12:43 a.m. Saturday at Hospice Care Center of Akron following a brief illness.

Mr. Grim was born October 9, 1925 in Columbiana, a son of Scott Silver and Dora Elizabeth Wentz Grim and had lived in Ravenna the past fours years after residing in Mogadore.

Red was the owner and operated the Marlboro Furniture Company in Mogadore for 38 years retiring in 2002. He had also worked for the former Kenmar Furniture in East Palestine.

Red was a Methodist by faith and a member of the Mogadore Lions Club. He loved fishing and was an avid Cleveland sports fan as well as an Ohio State fan. He served in the US Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, the former Anna "Faye" Elliott, whom he married December 12, 1947; three daughters, Marcia Lynn (Timothy) Hancox of New Waterford, Karen Lee Chaney of Tallmadge and Beverly Jo "Jodi"(Carl) Riggenbach of Broomfield; a brother, Park Irwin (Arlene) Grim of East Palestine; five grandchildren, Donald "Scott" Hancox, Christopher (Jaime) Hancox, Shawn Chaney, Megan Riggenbach and Brandon Riggenbach; and four great grandchildren, Alec, Kendall, Cade and Haven Hancox.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Jean "Sis" Bowen and a brother, Richard Dean "Dick" Grim.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Reverend Ross Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, New Springfield where the East Palestine Honor Guard will accord military honors. Friends may call from noon to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial tributes may be made to the Coach Richard "Dick" Grim Scholarship Fund c/o Crestview High School 44100 Crestview Rd.
