Leetonia-Don W. McCoy, 92, of 40775 Nold Drive, died at 11:21 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2010 at Salem Community Hospital.

Mr. McCoy was born March 1, 1918 in Leetonia, a son of the late Dell W. and Elizabeth Wilkinson McCoy and had lived in this area all of his life.

Don had been employed as a maintenance supervisor for 40 years at Franklin Furniture in Columbiana retiring in 1984; prior to that he had worked for Rance Electric in Salem.

Don was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia, the Tri State Antique Car Club, York Drexler Post #5532 VFW and the Oakdale Cemetery Chapel Building Committee.

He is survived by his wife, the former, Helen L. Weikart, whom he married October 30, 1946; two sons, C. Gregory (Judith) McCoy of Columbiana and Bruce (Mary Kay) McCoy of Powell; a sister, Betty Fox of Springfield, MO; a brother, Richard "Pud" McCoy of Leetonia; and three grandchildren, Shawn Gregory McCoy of West Hartford, CT, Luke Gregory McCoy and Hayden Lee McCoy both of Powell.

Two sisters, twin sister Evelyn McCoy and Dorothy McCoy and three brothers, Jack, Gene and Andrew "Ducky" McCoy preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery where the honor guard from Salem Amvets and VFW will accord military honors. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia and at the church one hour prior to the services on Monday.

Material tributes may be made in Don's memory to St. Paul's Lutheran Church brick restoration fund.
