David A. Newhouse, Sr.

Salem - David A. Newhouse, Sr., 77, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, at Salem Regional Medical Center.

David was born on June 28, 1947, in Morgantown, WV, son of the late Zana and Ercelene Compton Newhouse.

David had worked as a painter for Lordstown General Motors for 42 years.  He enjoyed deer hunting and walleye fishing on Lake Erie.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Dudick Newhouse, whom he married on November 4, 1989; his two sons, Robert Newhouse of Tulsa, OK, David Newhouse, Jr. of Damascus; his daughter, Lori (Shawn) Whissinger of North Jackson; a sister, Beverly Newhouse; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by infant sister, Mary Ann Newhouse, his sisters, Charlotte Wischermann and Lucy Minor; his brothers, Roy Newhouse, Fred Newhouse, William Newhouse, Robert Compton and Duane Jenkins.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home with Deacon Lawrence Pasko officiating.
