East Palestine - Darlene Marie Ferko, 58, of East Palestine, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Salem Community Hospital.

Mrs. Ferko was born August 19, 1955 in Salem, a daughter of the late Elmer C. and Dorothy Musser Rummel and had lived in this area all of her life. She had been employed as a church secretary at St. John's Lutheran Church, Petersburg and Grace Lutheran Church, East Palestine. Prior to that, she had worked for the Beaver Falls Industrial Park.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Petersburg, the American Legion Auxiliary, East Palestine, and a former member of the Aut Mori Caldron.

She is survived by her husband, John A. Ferko, whom she married May 19, 1984; a loving mother of two sons, Michael A. Ferko of Birmingham, AL and Matthew C. Ferko, attending Baldwin Wallace University; a sister, Brenda L. (Jeffrey) Zeh of Enon Valley, PA; a niece, Rachel L. Zeh and a nephew, Jason A. Zeh.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Aimee Raymond officiating. Burial will follow in Petersburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.

Memorial tributes may be directed to either the St. John's Lutheran Church or the Grace Lutheran Church.
