Columbiana - Dale E. Sitler, 84, died at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center, Chardon, following a short illness.
Mr. Sitler was born May 24, 1930 in Columbiana, a son of the late Robert C. and Leah Mae Crawford Sitler and had lived in Columbiana all of his life. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He had been employed as service manager at Columbiana Buick-Olds for 36 years, retiring in 1977. He then was owner and president of Sitler Hobby and Cycle Shop until 1988.
He was a lifelong member of Grace Church in Columbiana and had served as elder and president of the congregation. He enjoyed many hobbies, including photography and wood carving.
He is survived by his wife, the former Miriam C. Crouse, whom he married January 17, 1953; his children, Stan Sitler of Nashville, TN, Gary Sitler of Lake Worth, FL, Scot (Sylvia) Sitler of Huntburg, OH, and Amy Jenson of Cary, NC; a brother, Wayne (Pat) Sitler of Columbiana; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Grace Church, Columbiana, with the Rev. Dr. Robert C. Joy officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
