Columbiana - January 22, 2008 - Clyde Henry Lockard of 219 Allen Ave. Columbiana died at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday in Salem Community Hospital.
He was born June 5, 1924 son of Edna and Ross Lockard in Homer City, PA.
He lived in Greenford, Ohio for 30 years coming to Columbiana in 1987.
Clyde served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He landed in Normandy on D-Day and participated in the Battle of the Bulge, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
He retired from U.S. Steel where he was employed in the Gas Center, Plant Protection.
Clyde was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana, where he served as deacon. He attended Washingtonville Robbins United Methodist Church. He was a volunteer for R.S.V.P. Meals on Wheels and member of the Columbiana Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife Laura Jane (Bergman) Lockard of 60 years; sons, Danny Lynn of Utica, NY and Timothy Allen of Phoenix, AZ.
Preceding him in death were sisters, Helen and Lucille and a brother Glenn Lockard.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Reverend Cheryl Vanatsky officiating. Services will also be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Richard L. Shoemaker Funeral Home at Blairsville, PA. Burial will follow in the Blairsville Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
