Columbiana - Charmaine Ellen Lamoncha, 63, of 135 Seventh Street, graduated from this earth and went to be with her Lord at 1:45 a.m. April 15, 2015 following a brave battle against cancer.

Charmaine was born in Salem, Ohio on February 16, 1952 the daughter of Charles E. and Dorothy A. Souders Hawkins.

She was a 1970 graduate of the Beaver Local High School and in 1974 from Kent State University. Mrs. Lamoncha was a fifth grade teacher at Beaver Local Schools for 35 years, where she started teaching in August 1974, retiring in June 2009. She wrote music and original compositions to help children learn their subject matter; including Molecule Rock, Explorer Song, Perimeter Song and The Area Rap. She loved spending time with family, especially her many wonderful nieces and nephews. She enjoyed music, flowers, traveling, and her cat, Harley.

She attended the Old North Church in Canfield and had helped with music at the Rogers United Methodist Church Bible School and was a Sunday school teacher. She was in the First Friends of Salem Hand Bell choir, “The Quaker Bells”, was a 1990 Martha Jennings Scholar, and was in the Delta Kappa Gamma Alpha Sorority, Iota Chapter for education. She had also been the coach of the Junior High Girls Basketball Team at Beaver Local for several years.

She is survived by her husband, Criss J. Lamoncha, whom she married June 28, 1986; her father and step mother, Charles and Marie Kirk Hawkins of North Lima; two sisters, Marcia J. (Sherman) Griggs of Lisbon and Roxie (Don) Witmer of Columbiana and a brother, Forrest D. (Susan) Hawkins of Lisbon.

Her mother, Dorothy A. Hawkins and a sister-in-law, Lorie Hawkins preceded her in death.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Old North Church in Canfield with Pastor Rick Enlow officiating. Friends may call at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogers United Methodist Church “Feed My Sheep” food distribution.
