New Waterford - Charles "Chuck" Tarnovich, Sr., age 70, of New Waterford, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown.
He was born on March 11, 1954, in East Liverpool, a son of the late Nicholas and Shirley Zimmerman Tarnovich.
Chuck was a 1972 graduate of Wellsville High School and was currently attending the First Church of Christ in East Palestine. He had worked in the steel industry for 30 years, retiring from ATI in Midland, Pa. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends and had a passion for both cars and planes. He was a sports car enthusiast who enjoyed attending car shows, air shows and RC airplane airshows and events. Chuck enjoyed the outdoors. He liked camping with his wife in their motorhome, canoeing, vacationing near the ocean and working around his home and tending to his garden. He also loved music, especially Pink Floyd and attending concerts. He was known for his cooking, especially his homemade soups. Mostly, Chuck will be remembered for his kind heart. He was a very giving person who was always ready to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Seibert Tarnovich, whom he married on May 10, 2000; his stepson, Chris (Amber Lee Hostetter) Vargo of Darlington, PA; a son, Charles "Chuck" Tarnovich, II of Wellsville; siblings, David Tarnovich of Wellsville, Bonnie (Marvin) Hostetter of Wellsville, Mary Kay Sampson of East Liverpool and William (Alisa) Tarnovich of Salineville. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Cadence and Harmony Vargo of East Palestine.
Chuck was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Woods and a brother, John Tarnovich.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.
Services will be held on Friday, at 6:00 pm at the funeral home with Mr. Bill Requardt, Minister, officiating.
