New Waterford, OH-November 21, 2010-Charles B. Spears, 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Youngstown following a brief illness.
Mr. Spears was born December 17, 1936 in Cream City, OH. He was raised by his adoptive parents, Leonard and Goldie Spencer Spears and had lived in this area most of his life.
Chuck was an electrician for area companies including L.W. Nash in East Palestine, Bliss in Salem and NRM in Columbiana. He was a member of the First Church of Christ, East Palestine where he served as a deacon and an elder. He also served in the US Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife, the former Linda Hogue, whom he married July 30, 1961; two daughters, Christina (Kent) Baker of New Waterford and Lori Garrett of New Waterford and her friend George Freed of PA; four sons, Wallace (Sue) Spears of Princeton, NC, David Spears of Polkton, NC, Charles (Giovanna) Spears of Gaithersburg, MD and Lonnie (Amee) Spears of New Waterford; two sisters, Ruth Kruel of Irondale and Margaret Hood of Salineville; two brothers, William (Helen) Baker of FL and Stanley Wayne Fishback of Salem; twelve grandchildren, Jasun, Justin and Jacob Baker, Zachary, Jackelyn and Mackenzie Garrett, Charles and Melissa Spears, Randy Spears and Daniel and Leslie Carol and David Spears III; and fifteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Frankie Spears, a sister, Elsie Mae and a brother, Harry Fishback.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine and from 10-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Church of Christ, East Palestine.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the First Church of Christ with Mr. Robert Helbeck, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Charles will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
