Leetonia - Charles "Bud" Shaughnessy, 92, of Leetonia, died Wednesday morning, October 4, 2017 at Hospice House in Poland. Charles was born March 8, 1925 in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Michael B. Shaughnessy and Rena Marshall. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Columbiana, a member of the Scottish Right and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Charles was a past member of the Crestview School Board, was President of the American Society of Industrial Security in Cleveland and served as a Zoning Inspector for 12 years in Fairfield Township. Early on in life Charles worked as a Construction Superintendent with many different area companies before becoming the Vice President and General Manager with security systems division of Research Associates Inc. He was well known in the area as a clock repair man. Charles is survived by his wife, Lorraine F. Shaughnessy, whom he married on September 10, 1949; three sons, Ronald (Karen) Shaughnessy of New Springfield, Glenn W. (Marion) Shaughnessy of Columbiana, and Michael Bryan (Maryann) Shaughnessy of Columbiana; eight grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Emmett Shaughnessy, Ross Shaughnessy, Kenneth Shaughnessy, and Ralph Shaughnessy and a sister Ruth Fryman. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home with Pastor Jeffrey Corbett officiating. Friends may call at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home in Columbiana from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow at Columbiana Cemetery.
