Charles "Charlie" Powell, Sr., age 58, of Leetonia, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at his home.
He was born on October 27, 1965, in Cleveland, OH, a son of the late Peter and Mildred George Powell.
Charlie, or “Charlie The Painter” as he was affectionately known, worked most of his life as a painter. As a Christian, Charlie loved spending his mornings reading his Bible, sharing his faith with others and was extremely happy and proud to have been recently baptized. He believed in one act of kindness a day and with this belief, he was able to fulfill his dream of helping his community by establishing The Lords Blessing Food Pantry in Washingtonville. Charlie was a family man. He enjoyed fishing, loved cooking and delighted in teaching his grandchildren how to cook. He also found it important to teach his grandchildren how to shoot. He liked vacationing in the Smoky Mountains but just recently took a Hawaiian Cruise with his sister and loved it! Charlie really enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Toot Powell, whom he married on December 6, 2011; two daughters, Christina Powell of Whitehouse, TN, Felicia Wilson of Washingtonville; four sons, Charles (Chianni) Powell Jr. of Fort Myers, FL, Kevin (Jessica) Cibula of Salem, Phillip (Ashley) Cibula of Columbiana and Corey (Alexa) Cibula of Salem; siblings, David Powell of Hendersonville, TN, Linda (Gary) Craddock of Gallatin, TN, and Peter (Lynn) Powell of Youngstown, and fourteen grandchildren, Olivia, Matthew, Karma, Cameron, Charles III "Tripp", Darcy, Ethan, Jase, Hayden, Mason, Jordyn, Mia, Miley, and McKenna.
Charlie was preceded in death by a grandson, Terrance.
Charlie's family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Washingtonville-York Drexler Post #5532 VFW.
