East Palestine, OH-October 19, 2007-Charles M. Loyd, age 83, of 66 S. Washington Street, died at 3:25 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus.

Mr. Loyd was born December 14, 1923 in Lamar, Arkansas, a son of William and Bennie Dale Loyd and had lived here one month coming from Casper, Wyoming.

Charles was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #800 and worked as a crane operator for Wyoming Contractors Associates, Inc. for many years retiring in 1972. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2350 and the Moose Lodge # 718 in Wyoming.

His wife, the former Harriet Maxine Short, whom he married December 31, 1943 died December 10, 1997.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Diana Loyd of East Palestine; two grandchildren, Israel Loyd and Mandy Loyd; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert E. and Kenneth Loyd; a sister, Helen McKeowen; and a brother, James Loyd.

Memorial services will be held at a later time with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery, Rock Springs, Wyoming.

Arrangements were handled by the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine, OH.
